What
Is Pagan Pride Day?
To
advance education about our religion and work toward the elimination
of prejudice and discrimination based on religious beliefs,
specifically those defined as “Pagan,” a group of
like-mind in 1998 organized the first official Pagan Pride Day
(an IRS 501(c)(3) charity). Since that time, the communities
organizing annual events have grown worldwide. Admission is
always free. Throughout the day, the public can watch the performance
of rituals from different traditions; they can participate in
various workshops and they can enjoy the entertainment provided.
Not only is Pagan Pride Day an event to celebrate our spiritual
community, an additional purpose is to establish a learning
environment for the greater community. Pagan
Pride Day is held around the Fall Equinox in honor of the various
Thanksgiving holidays common to most Pagan traditions. As a
part of the Thanksgiving spirit and to show support and care
for the social needs in our cities and towns, we always sponsor
a food and goods drive to benefit a local food bank, charity
and/or shelter.
